The coil on the left is the old coil that barely gave 3" but was super long and super soft.

Many of you have read our articles about other Products Rusty carries for XJ's. He's been an avid supporter of the XJ aftermarket and continues to try to bring new parts to market. We get tons of emails about Rusty's 6" leaf packs that we reviewed several months ago and now we're bringing you his 6" coils for the front.

These coils are the take the same installation procedure of any coils. Basically you Support the frame and let the front axle hand as low ad it can. You may need to remove some of the control arms or steering and definitely the sway-bar to get the axle to droop low enough for these to fit in. The old coils I had were WAY sagged out. They were supposed to be 4.5" coils fromt another manufacturer that I had had for several years. They Provided me with about 3.5" and I was using a 1.75" spacer to net about 5" or so. The old springs were way to soft for my taste. They didn't need to be that soft for the trail and the on road performance caused a lot for front end dive.

Rusty's 6" coils provided me with plenty of lift. Giving a healty 6" without having to run a spacer. They are very flexy on the trail and the on road ride is great, enough support that they handle well but not too stiff to make the ride uncomfortable. I know that Rusty's spent a while testing different spring rates in order to get the one that he thought provided the best results.

A finished shot with the 6" coil and no spacers required. (those are 33"x10.50 tires for reference)
