That's an awesome conversion. Never thought a 4.0 head would mount up to a 4.2 block. I stumbled across this site while searching for into about blown head gaskets. I'm installing a new head gasket on my '92 Wrangler (4.0L) this weekend and stopped to look at some of your pics. It has took me about 4-5 hours to get everything unbolted and off and I'm waiting until tomorrow to get some help with lifting the heads off. Especially now that I've read it's about 77lbs!!! Good luck on your future mods and happy Jeepin'

I was wondering if doing the 4.0L head swap would cause any problems with later trying to add a Howell TBI fuel injection kit. Would the switch from a 4.2L head to a 4.0L head cause any problems with this? Thanks.

Was there a change in the head design after 1992 or '93. I checked on aluminum valve covers from Crown and was told that the valve covers they make would not fit the earlier 4.0L engines, that they used a different head.

Okay , I did the head swap. Like other readers , the intake wont reach the head. It hits the exhaust. I have a 74 CJ5 258/ I have a 92 head. Whats the skinnie. Do you need the 4.0 intake,a different exhaust or what. I wanna try this out ! Help Thanks Frank
