By a huge margin, the number one question I get asked when people see my Jeep for the first time is: ?what is that tank in the back?? The tank is, of course a compressed liquid CO2 tank. But it can be used for so much more than just filling your tires. Read on??

If you're reading this, you are probably considering swapping a V8 into your Jeep CJ or YJ. I'm lumping the CJ and YJ together because they are so similar. I did my swap in a CJ7, but most of the information will apply to a CJ5 (Post 1976) or a YJ (1987-1996).

Jeep CJ and YJ radiators have the lower and upper hoses on the wrong side of the engine for a Chevy V8. In addition, the stock 2 core radiator, or an older radiator, will simply not cool enough for your new V8

In the last installment, I prepped the V8 for installation and talked about researching your options. This section deals with diving right in and removing your old engine and everything up to dropping in the new engine

Your going to need an engine stand, an engine hoist (with a balancer), and a full set of hand tools

Then used a wire brush and grinder to take off the casting flash and remove many layers of paint in prep for a new coat of paint
