Jeep Wrangler Resuscitation Month 8 - Addressing Axle Issues

This month, as we reported last month, we will be addressing our axle deficiencies. Including a complete replacement of the front end. The entire housing was so bent that even with offset ball joints the left front tire still had almost an 1.25" of camber.

"All 4 fun" Mile High Jeep Clubs 33rd Annual 4 x 4 Event

This years "All 4 Fun" event was held on the beautiful American Safari Ranch near the mountain town of Fairplay Colorado at about 9500 feet above sealevel. The American Safari Ranch is located in the 15 mile wide by 30 mile long mountain valley called "South Park" in the heart of the Rockies. A flat grassy camping area provided by the ranch was perfect for pitching a tent or parking a RV with a gorgeous 360-degree view of the mountains. Drinking water and portable toilets were provided.

Fortunately, the front bumper on the Jeep Wrangler is very easy to get at for removal. The factory bumper only uses 4 Torx head bolts into welded cage nuts in the frame. Just a matter of minutes and it is off and the frame is ready for clean up.

What a difference a month can make! A month ago we were recovering our project vehicle from the local police impound yard. Fortunately, all that was lost was a tank full of fuel and the sound system. Damage to the steering column was limited to the ignition switch lock and a few scratches.
