I drive a Jeep with 35x12.5x15 MFG M/Ts. These are big tires and airing down for the trail used to be tedious and very time consuming. It seemed with all the airing down & swaybar disconnecting that I was always the last one ready to hit the trail. I tried some other products including another screw on product - but without careful monitoring I could easily over-deflate, meaning it would take a lot longer to air up again before I could hit the trail. This careful monitoring meant I could not take care of the other last minute stuff at the same time.

Finally somebody did something about this situation which we all face. Oasis Off-Road Manufacturing sent us a set of their Trailhead Automatic Tire Deflators for review.

A very complete productThe product when it arrived included:

  • 4 (very compact) automatic deflators
  • A tool to adjust the deflation setpoint
  • A high accuracy 0 - 20 psi tire pressure gauge
  • A laminated instruction card
  • A genuine leather storage pouch for it all to fit into

I was very impressed with the quality of all of the components and the completeness of the kit. It was obvious that a lot of thought had been put into this and who ever was doing the thinking had seen some time airing down at the trailhead.

Small, compact & easy to use!I put all the components in their leather pouch, tossed it into my console and that weekend hit the trails in Hollister. When it was time to air down I quickly set all of the deflators to air down to 11 psi and attached them to each of my tire stems. While my tires were airing down I was able to disconnect my sway bar and check that everything was still secure before hitting the trail. When my tires reached the correct pressure the deflation just stopped. I was able to walk around at my leisure disconnecting them. Although I did not try it Oasis states that you can even drive (up to 20 mph) while the deflation process is happening. Now I thought I was ready to hit the trail, but I was mistaken as a short line of wheelers had formed? they all wanted to borrow the deflators!

I have been waiting a long time for something like this!Well, as popular as they were I was lucky to get them back - a couple of other Jeeps were quickly aired down with the deflators as well and then they were popped back into their pouch and we were ready for the trail. It was unanimous - we all thought that this was a cool product that every 4 wheeler should have in their glove box!

This is a very affordable, well thought out product that helps with one of those chores we all have to do - airing down. I highly recommend it.
