 The leaning building in this

well known landmark in Colorado.
Each year, hundreds of people flock to the Rocky
Mountains during the first week of August to attend the Mile-Hi Jeep
Club?s annual All-4-Fun?this year was no exception. With 325
vehicles, 800 attendees, and 25 sponsors, the 31st annual All-4-Fun was
a huge success. This year, the Mile-Hi Jeep Club raised over $4,350 for
the Children?s Hospital of Denver. For the second time in All-4-Fun
history, the event was held in Gunnison, Colorado, a small town located
on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. Gunnison was established in
1874 and is surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountain scenery
in the world. Originally inhabited by the Ute Indians, Gunnison has been
the home of frontier settlers, mining gold diggers, fearless outlaws,
and heroic cowboys. Tomken Machine brought two
impressive vehicles to display their products. On Saturday, the majority of the attendees arrived
and set up camp. Registration was held throughout the day, as the camp
filled up with hundreds of 4x4s. The All-4-Fun committee members did an
outstanding job of setting up the campsite, and making all of the
participants feel welcome. Upon arrival, participants strolled through
the camp visiting old friends, admiring vehicles, and talking about the
scheduled trails. Mark Hinkley, owner of Off Road
General Store, spots Raffi Kodikian over a tough section on "Iron
Chest Mine Trail."
Four Wheeling trips were planned for Sunday, Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A variety of trails were offered in
various difficulty levels. Most of the trails were offered on all five
days, allowing the attendants to choose from a diverse selection of
adventures. Trails such as the scenic "Tin Cup Pass", the
panoramic "American Flag Trail", the challenging "Iron
Chest Mine Trail", and Colorado?s infamous "Pearl Pass"
were among many offered to the All-4-Fun participants. As an added
bonus, participants could sign up for a trip across "Williams
Pass", a trail that has been closed for 12 years. The views along "Williams
Pass" were incredible. As one of the first vehicles over the trail
in 12 years, we were treated to remarkable scenery.
On Wednesday, there were no trips scheduled. Instead,
several activities were planned throughout the day, starting with a
parade through town at 10:00 A.M. Immediately following the parade was a
vehicle Show-?N?-Shine sponsored by Rancho. Sponsors such as Warn,
Yokohama, Ramsey, Dana, and Four Wheel Parts Hardware had exhibits set
up to display their products. Lunch was provided by BFGoodrich, and an
assortment of children and adult games were offered by Dunlop. The
traditional Mile-Hi Jeep Club BBQ was held Wednesday night, followed by
an awards ceremony for the games and Snow-?N?-Shine. Other
activities offered throughout the week were an Old Fashioned Ice Cream
Social sponsored by Bestop, the Children?s Hospital Raffle, and Warn
Winch Night, consisting of a hamburger fry and a live band. All-4-Fun
?97 truly had something for everyone. The Show-?N?-Shine sponsored
by Rancho turned up some impressive vehicles. For more information on All-4-Fun ?98, contact the
